Go type GuildWars Gold in Google.com

You will then understand.

Seriously though..

The economy is Rich - Poor. The economy is Farked. High Prices, Low Drops.

I've made around a total of 75,000g over just on 300 hours of play. I didnt start playing around with farming until the "no drop bug" patch. and after ascension.

I havent got a gold drop since the last update (actually I did, 1 gold armor with a major illusion rune) and so far in total game play I have gotten about 10 max damage weapons, most of which where white, the odd purple. only 1 to write home about (not that I could sell it. all because it was <50% health)

oh well.

the above post : I know what you mean, I cant believe people would PAY for items/gold in a game with realy money. I dont get it.

Yeah I do think the game is a little stingy.

250 Hours on my first character, and would you believe I have never found a black dye or a superior rune. I help guild members thru the game everday. Either I have bad luck, I am not looking in the right places or items are just not dropping. I believe it is a combination of the 3. I am having fun though. I am able to kill monsters, and I have decent enough runes unlocked to be able to hold my own in PvP.

I've got no problem with money, but I trade off items in towns and buy low/sell high items all the time. So if I'm low on cash I can make a quick 10,000gp or so in a few hours in town. But that requires less adventure, and more trade. Some folks aren't into that (although its a whole lot faster then farming).

However after repeated failure at one of the trials of ascention I've gotta admit... not too much neat stuff to write home about. I did one of the trials 5 times (still haven't beat it), and I got some gold pieces and a purple axe (axe mastery +1 12% chance).

Although the drops were not impressive, if I were to decide to quit the game I'd probably just quit and not bother posting to a bunch of people that don't care :-) If you have concerns with the game go ahead and post them (or make a thread). If your just posting to tell everyone your quitting just quit and save the space for someone with concerns.

I do not get drops, I never have and probably never will. I think my character is jinxed. You guys act like though that nothing ever drops in the game, but it must otherwise how else would traders be kept in stock? I do not think that drops have been nerfed, but I feel that farming has changed.

A guildie of mine farms a certain area (by himself). And after he had rezoned for about the 30th time a message came across his screen that said "Monster's in this area are running out of loot" no joke. He kept farming, and sure enough item drops became slime to none. He then went somewhere else waiting a while then returned, and was able to farm again. From what it sounds like they have made items sort of like a lake that is stocked with fish. They replenish it only so often. If you fish all the fish out tough luck, have to wait until we replenish. I am almost curious if everyone was not to kill any monsters for 1 day. If we would see an increase of drops. I know this is crazy, and there is no way to be able to try it. I am just curious though if that would effect anything.

As a warrior these past 10 days 90% of my drops are crappy wand/staffs and an ungodly amount of worthless bows.

I game with the same 5 guys every night and the Ranger gets all the axes and hammers, the mesmer gets all the swords, and the Elem gets sheilds out the wazoo, and the monk gets a mix of junk that I and the Elem gets.

I went thru Thirsty River and Dragon Lair last night and pulled 1...thats 1 blue water wond.....yes they have done something.

D.E.M.

Developer Endorsed Monopoly.

Everyone who had played this game in the betas, and was here from day one, and thus knew where to go, what to do, and what to farm, got hundreds of thousands of gold, plus tons of top tier runes, good items etc.

Anet panicked, nerfed every farm site they knew of, and messed with the drop rate. Now, unless you happen to be lucky enough to find a new farmsite (and then NOT share it with anyone, which is the EXACT thing a CORPG is trying to achieve, all players being by themselves, no interaction, nothing), you won't be able to make any gold, while all the early farmers can buy all the cool loot.

They created the monopoly, then endorsed it by making sure noone else could join it.

Now, they've said that there will be more ways to gain these items in the future, but I'm pretty sure they were talking about PvP, and not PvE. Who cares about the PvEers never finding anything?

*shrug*

the only way you can REALLy voice your displeasure about what this game is turning into is by keeping your wallet closed when the expansion pack shows up.
A few more same same classes, 100 more fedex quests and some more scenery?

Note, I liked the game tons when it first came out, but the general nerf nerf nerf attitude of all these patches is just making it boring. I'd LIKE to help make the game better (I've posted in the Sardelac forum a few times), but I wonder if Anet really even CARES about PvE only players.

OK a little objectivity. The display of maturity on the last few pages is embarassing, no ones got the high ground I'm afraid. Most of you sound like a bunch of spoiled pissants.
I bought, correction recieved the game as a X-mas present, so I started playing on Dec.25. I loved the game right away, got right into it, and quickly had a Ele through the game, took about a week-10 ten days to get my first character thru. Time goes on, and know I have been playing regularily(daily) for the last 3-4 mos. I have ascended a Monk, a Ranger, and am half way there with a Warrior/ranger. I noticed on the first two 'toons(Ele, and Ranger) that the high level missions used to be good for at least 1.5k to 2k, every run thru, and ussually I could count on the odd gold or purple(by high level lets say anything after the Droknars).
Well it really seems those were the good old days, and that is just SAD, Ive been playing for 3 1/2 mos. FFS. Now what do I get from those same high level missions well Im lucky to get 600g out of em(for what is usually like 40-60 minutes of play). Drops ? What are those ?
Ive done the Barrage solo farming with my ranger, I can solo the imps regularily, minos too, why bother tho, the money made is hardly worth it in my eyes !!
I read all these old threads where people talk about making big coin, and getting all these great drops, well apparentley this is the only thing that Anet pays attention too, 'cause the only thing I notice in game is that there is no more gold ?
Do they really think they are improving the game ? How so ? Really I want a developers opinion on this. How does nerfing loot make the game better for me. It doesnt, simple.
Please stop the nerfing of drops Anet, you are punishing the casual player in the most severe way, and for what, what did I, or for that matter any of us, do that my/our drops should suffer like they do? Meanwhile the 'botters'(whatever) simply move to another area, or they just keep on going, who cares they just dont make quite as much as they used too, they jack up the price for gold on Ebay a bit, no probs all around....except for I'd venture too say about 75% of the player base who are casual players(PvE) and are having to suffer the consequences Anet punishing, or regulating a bunch of nameless faceless farmers.
Anet needs to put some serious thought into this if they are hoping to run this campaign for the next few years, I mean drops have been nerfed into non existence as is, and there is really no reason to even try to earn the cash for something like 15k armor, its just too depressing.
You can cry all you want about the not needing Godly items to compete in GuildWars but to be honest, it aint enough, too know that I can pound on a lot of monsters, and I dont need a Crystalline sword to do it, that whole argument is beside the point.
The simple point is, I would like to have the option to be able to earn that Crystalline sword if I so desired, but given the current game dynamic, it would/will never happen. Not if I sat here and ground myself into the floor below would I ever even approach the kind of gold some items are commanding.
Like it or not Anet, the fact is that most people play for the cookie, we play for the gold in PvE sorry if this is news but it is the way it is. You are giving us crumbs while you allude that there is a cookie in the works(new trading system that will 'hopefully' improve the economy, ya right), the whole time you keep lessening the amount of crumbs you drop for us.
To sum it up, I feel disillusioned, never has it happened so quickly with a RPG type game, I mean Ive finished it three times, and Im poor, and I stand no chance of becoming even just moderatley wealthy. Pretty sad for what is essentially a really fun game, the grind for gold(even just too unlock skills), is tiresome, really tiresome, when I feel they, the company supplying the game, is fighting against me at every turn. Please stop before you lose a shitload of customers.
PS: sorry for my crappy writing, trying to make sense, without droning on, but I aint Hemingway....

Agreed. I'm poor as well for the most part, too.

best way to get rich is by trading.. buy low sell high.. and instead of wasting your gold on trivial stuff save it to buy those opportune items to sell at a higher price..

its how i got rich

Yeah, but there's a reason the price is high, the drops aren't common. Btw, powertrading is my fav. method. Bought a 14^50 R8 Crystalline for 1.2 Mil. I then went and sold it for around 2.5 Mil.

Farming decreases drops, therefore the more farming, the crappier drops. I would go with trading or offering a service, like Running or something. Thats a solid way to made money that won't change any time soon.

Speaking of Crystalline Swords... I've played this game for 8-9months now and i haven't even SEEN a crystalline sword drop, never mind get 1.

I can remember my first time doing the ettin run too, i found 3 sup monk runes in the first 24hours (2hours of farming it over 1 day). Now all i get is lousy purples and the occasional gold major armour.

Don't bash on thread Necromancy... lets face it, if someone had started a new thread on this topic someone would give a reply similar to, "lol use the search engine!"

At any rate, I've actually never ran into the anti-farm code out of questing the same zone repeatedly, so I guess this was fixed or at least improved?

I don't know about farming, because I've never really done it, but don't know went through Tombs yesterday with a great group and got VERY poor drops - like three blue hammers that were "Precious", and two of the worst golds I've ever seen (from chests) One was a Fire Wand with +3 Energy that was Gold for some reason. I don't know - after going through all of that, and spending money on keys, I think you should get something half way decent. This was my first succesfull Tombs run with this char, so not like I do it often. Oh well - try again.

Seriously, the way how Anet nerfs AOE and farming in general pisses me off. How are we supposed to get our damn gold? Who says our economy is doing bad? It's fine! What's bad about the economy is how supply is high and nobody is buying because nobody has that much gold to spend compared to others who either bought off of eBay or farmed long ago.

Anet should seriously stop whining and worrying about how we farm and actually fix things that pertain to more important aspects of the game, about actually the gameplay itself, not money. Why don't they pull their heads outta their butts and do something about PvP with quitters, hackers, spells, I mean farming is nothing compared to this. If people want to farm, let them farm. If they want to run people places, let them. And because of their ridiculous AOE nerf, the Mage Henchie is nearly completely useless and retarded. His firestorm abilities sucked as it is, and now he just plain blows.

I dunno, I mean in my head, I think Anet pays WAY TOO MUCH attention to farming and all that crap. If people want to farm FoW, let them who cares. Let them sell, people will achieve gold themselves easier and buy, economy is fine...
